Whispers From The Woods
WALK THE WHISPERS FROM THE WOODS TRAIL!
Young people from South Derbyshire were encouraged to share their experiences of connecting and reconnecting with nature during the Coronavirus Lockdowns, in 2020 and 2021, in a creative writing and poetry project organised by Arts Melbourne and funded by a National Forest Arts Grant.
Experiences of connecting and reconnecting with Nature during Lockdown which were shared with the project inspired a poem which was shared as part of a nature poetry trail through Bare Hills and Browns Field on the edge of Melbourne . The poem was in place until Winter 2024, but you can still dress up warm and head for the footpath in Ashby Road, Melbourne and discover the inspiration for EVERLONG / EVERGREEN for yourself.
Download the flyer for Walk the Whispers from the Woods Walk to see the route. The poem created for Whispers From the Woods EVERLONG / EVERGREEN can be downloaded here. A Whispers from the Woods book will be published in 2025. Please let us know what you thoughts about spending time in nature by emailing info@melbournefestival.co.uk.
Whispers from the Woods has been shared at Timber Festival in July 2021, at Markeaton Park, Derby throughout August, and at Melbourne Festival with performances by our Poet/ Project Coordinator DAN WEBBER.
‘Whispers From The Woods’ was made possible thanks to support from the National Forest Company as part of their new Arts Grant initiative.
Thank you to all the young people who participated in this project.
